Leadership Bursaries
MCM LEADERSHIP BURSARIES OVERVIEW
Because of the generosity of named donors and their families, MCM is able to offer financial assistance to Pastors, Chaplains, and those entering ministry for their educational pursuits. These are all bursaries and do not need to be repaid.
Application deadline is May 15 of each year. Successful applicants will be notified at the end of June. The Director(s) of Leadership Ministries will oversee the application process. Based on the return on investment funds, we hope to be able to award up to 3 applicants $900 each per school year.
Preference will be given to students registered at a Mennonite Church Manitoba associated school.
HOW TO APPLY:
1. Contact one of the Co-Directors of Leadership Ministries to inform them that you wish to be considered for one of these bursaries: Jeff Friesen (jfriesen@mennochurch.mb.ca) or Karen Schellenberg (kschellenberg@mennochurch.mb.ca). Phone: 204-896-1616
2. Directors will then send you an application form and reference forms which will be used to provide MCM with information regarding your education plans, your home congregation, and two references.
3. Successful applicants will be notified at the end of June. Money will be rewarded the following December or April after you submit your transcript showing you have successfully completed the course. You will be encouraged to send a letter of thanks to one of the families who have provided these funds.
ABRAM G. NEUFELD MINISTER AND MISSIONARY EDUCATION FUND
The goal of the Abram G. Neufeld Minister and Missionary Education Fund is to provide financial support to pastors and missionaries who would like to further their training.
The Abram G. Neufeld Fund is committed to assist persons seeking full-time or part-time pastoral or missionary education on a graduate level. Priority will be given to those already actively involved in some facet of ministry (pastoral, missionary, or institutional) in Mennonite Church Manitoba.
JAKE AND DOROTHY PAULS PASTORAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING FUND
The idea for this fund grew out of a vision of Jake Pauls that the training of pastors should be given high priority in the Mennonite church. The purpose of this fund, therefore, is to support leadership training for people who are called to pastoral ministry and who are in a program of study with an Anabaptist/Mennonite focus.
JOHANN FUNK MEMORIAL FUND
The Johann Funk Memorial Fund provides a bursary to students who desire theological training.
