MC Manitoba Vision Statement

Our vision is to be a community of congregations unified in Jesus Christ, living a biblical Anabaptist faith, together presenting Jesus Christ to the world.

Web site Goal

• to create a web site that will be an attractive destination for faith encouragement relating to our Vision Statement
• target: youth and young adults first (then “old” adults), in our Conference and beyond.

A place where:

• people will be able to interact with others through discussion and media.
• people’s stories of how they live out the vision statement will be shared for encouragement.
• people might even feel comfortable inviting unchurched friends.

Vision for this section:

A place where travelers can communicate with other travelers. To discuss issues that are important to being a traveler. A place for travelers to be honest with one another. To ask hard questions about what it means to be a traveler. We know people are asking the questions. Do we have the confidence to tackle them with integrity in a larger forum?

Hopes and Dreams:

• regular moderated discussion for youth
• a discussion that is moderated by pastors in our Conference. They can choose the topic, make an opening statement, and have people respond.

Events

Vision for this section

The place to find out what’s going on in our conference community and our churches. Content will include 1. Conference events; 2. Congregation based events that would be open to anyone in the conference and beyond.

congregations to submit events that would be relevant to others in our conference community and beyond. Each event would have a link to further details.

Media

Vision for this section

A place to discover the talents and work of those on the journey in our Conference. Music, video, art, etc. A place where people can share their faith with others through media.

Hopes and Dreams:

• online interview program
  • eg. a video program created by Young Adults which travels from congregation to congregation asking the question, “What makes Jesus real? ”
• music written by young people in our conference
  • demos recorded in our studio or other studios.
• videos created by young people with faith themes
• a video competition on a faith topic. The best to be made available here.
• art gallery

Resources

Vision for this section

A place to come for resources to help the traveler do his/her job of being a faithful Christian and Church member in the world. Items to be submitted by MC-M staff AND constituency.

Hopes and Dreams:

• Spiritual encouragement
  • short devotionals written by young adults to change weekly.
  • invite 10 young adults to a writer’s workshop, to give them some tools for creating devotional material.
• Links to “good” resources on the web
  • there is so much out there. No one has time to find it all. Each link would come with a VERY short review from staff or constituency member who recommends it.
• a weekly “column” by a young adult on issues facing Young Adults in the world.
• a music or movie review column

Stories

Vision for this section:

A place where travelers’ stories of how they live out the MC-M Vision Statement will be shared for encouragement. Like news, except the priority will be on the part of the story that can help others be encouraged, or take people into a deeper place in their faith walk.

Most of the stories will show up on the homepage for a while, and then move to the stories page to be archived.
